The Environment Committee of the Berkshire Women’s Action Group is taking a bylaw proposal to the GB Annual Town Meeting this Monday night (5/7). It would ban the sale of plastic bottles of still water (not sparkling or flavored – just the stuff you can get out of your tap) in Gt Barrington.
This is really important. We simply MUST send the message that (1) plastics are destroying our environment, (2) recycling is NOT the answer, and (3) our children and grandkids are really and truly going to have to pay the price, which gets higher every day.
The only solution is to limit the production of plastic. This ban, which began in Concord, MA, and which we expect will be imitated in our county and across the country, will get that ball rolling.
The meeting is this Monday night (5/7), at Monument Mountain High School. It starts at 6 PM but the Warrant Article is #22, so it’s OK to get there later: 7:00 should be safe.
The only thing that will prevent this Article from passing is if people who agree with it do not show up to vote! Plus, we know you’ll enjoy our presentation. Please come.
